As President of Renovation Concepts, I have come to understand the concept Stewardship and its importance in the way we conduct business.
Stewardship is a principle that has been modeled for me by the seniors who attend Valley Presbyterian Church in Portland’s Raleigh Hills. Its members do an extraordinary amount of charity work for organizations such as Oregon Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Luke-Dorf, Inc., Care to Share, Umavida-Bolivia, Glisan Street Shelter, worldwide hunger relief programs, and the American Red Cross.
It is my belief that as younger generations, we should take note and in turn model the example that they have set for us.
As members of the building and design community, this year, all of the companies who make up the Renovation Concepts program have agreed to donate their time toward working with a nonprofit organization whose purpose to help seniors. This can include working on a senior’s home, such as someone who may be living on a fixed income and needs assistance regarding making their home more functional in terms of allowing them to “Age in Place” as well as doing needed repairs.
These small, individual gifts, when combined with the donations of many individuals, really can make a huge difference in our community and world. As Tom Brokaw stated in his farewell address to the nation, and in his book titled, “The Greatest Generation” the members who make up our senior population have given their time and energy to make this nation what it is today.
This Web site will provide updates on how Renovation Concepts gives back to their community. There will be photos posted on the Renovation Concepts blog and links to the organizations that Renovation Concepts supports.
